
Job Classification: | Entry Level Appraiser or Higher (dependent upon qualifications) |
Job Description: | Appraiser shall appraise all property within the county for tax purposes. This includes: locating property, performing field inspections, collecting data, analyzing data, communicating with property owners, and determining the appraised value. |
On the Job Training: | All new appraisers will receive "On the Job Training" (OJT) in order to completely perform the job description above. It is the district's goal to have every appraiser certified within 5 years. |

Physically able to work in inclement weather (heat, cold, rain, etc.) Willing to work comp time when needed. Maintain a neat appearance, and deal tactfully with the public |
Specific Requirements: |
Ability to attend and pass appraisal courses as required for advancement (according to TDLR) within 5 years Valid Driver's License Use of personal vehicle Reliable Transportation Current vehicle liability Insurance |
Education & Experience: |
High School Diploma or Equivalent (minimal) College background with emphasis in business or mathematics (preferred) Prior field work or similar real estate appraisal experience (preferred) |
Skills: |
Good math skills Bilingual (preferred) Operate multi-line telephone Good telephone etiquette Excellent customer service Punctual Computer skills - Microsoft Word, Excel |
Compensation: |
Starting salary of $29,000 - $34,000 is based on qualifications, experience and education. Reimbursement for auto usage will be paid by auto allowance and/or mileage (IRS rate used). |
